The Gear Wish List
The Gear Wish List

Just curious. What do you want to get, instrument-wise? Here's my wish list:

12-string electro-acoustic
6-string electro-acoustic
electric piano
Stratocaster
Classical guitar
Fender amp (probably the Blues Deluxe)

Well....

i want to learn the piano, so if you get one first James, i'll come round yours, other wise i'll have to try and get one on credit.

Guitar wise, I still want the double cutaway Les Paul, along with a Gibson ES335, maybe a Tele Deluxe in case one of the above two breaks/gets broken by me.

A 12-string is always a healthy addition. I heard a guy playing one in the pub the other day and it sounded fantastic, I don't think Argos do them though.

In terms of amps ? mmmm. A Marshall stack to dive into would be nice, it would look good with a Les Paul/ES335 sticking out of it, but probably sound shit.

Judging by the way you were playing your Epiphone Les Paul last night, it's high time you got back to Gibson's wicked ways.

Me getting an electric piano would be a credit thing too. I had intended to get one at the start of this year but it's had to move quite far down the list. Amp is higher. Possibly also a 12-string. You just get such a good sound from them; whether playing a semi-picking, semi-strumming style like the start of Wish You Were Here by the Floyd, or just a big, awe-inspiring rhythm monster sound like Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower.

I'd want a Strat in terms of electrics next, but some sort of semi-acoustic would be good. Maybe a Tele with an F-hole...

I know I've already got a Strat, but the Dave Murray model is a bit special, so one of those without a doubt. Also, for sheer geekiness and eletronic wizadry, one of the robotic Les Pauls. This is a "wish list" isn't it?

I'd also like to get a new amp. You can't go far wrong with a Marshall, but i've been so impressed with the sound out of my mini Orange, I can't help but contemplate one of it's bigger brothers... obviously a Head + Cab for sheer sound, but practically, a combo would be more likely. The Rocker RK30C would be my top end choice, with the classic Crush 30R being the budget end of the scale.

Have also recently seen the Epiphione version of the classic Jimmy Page double neck SG. Mmmmmm...

I think I have to spend some serious time with a Strat and a Gibson Les Paul to see which neck/fret size I prefer. Anyone arrange that for me?

I'm still currently more a single coil man than humbucker hombre but would definitely want a Les Paul just for that fat sound when overdriven. The most playable necks I've found to date are Neil's Rickenbacker 330 and my Custom Tele. Not sure how you'd class the Rick neck but the Tele is described as 'Soft V' shape with medium jumbo frets. I think I definitely like that fret size more than the Rickenbacker's. Large hands, yer see (hence, bass player).

Roland TD9KX kit. Or, money no object whatsoever, the TD20. And the reissue of the "Pictures of Lily" kit.
