Changes made:

1. Smileys added. These are now stored in a package called 'johnsey' in honour of their donor.

2. E-mail notification of private messages enabled. The default is currently to be e-mailed 'every day', but there are alternatives. You can change this by going to your account (link on the left) and clicking on 'edit'. Working on getting notification for replies to comments.

3. As noticed, the first post was showing up at the top of not only the first page of a thread but also subsequent ones! This has been resolved.
